TC4 powder is another name of titanium alloy powder, which is widely used in industry. So why on earth can it play such a big role? Now let's take a look.

1. High strength. The density of TC4 powder is usually about 4.51g/cm3 per square meter, which is only 60% of that of steel. The density of pure titanium is close to that of ordinary steel. Some high strength titanium alloys are stronger than many.

2. High thermal strength. The temperature of TC4 powder is several degrees higher than that of aluminum alloy. The required strength can be maintained at medium temperature. It can work for a long time at 450 ~ 500 ℃. The temperature range of the two titanium alloys is 150 ℃ to 500 ℃. However, the strength of TC4 powder decreases obviously at 150 ° C. The working temperature of TC4 powder can reach 500 ℃, while that of aluminum alloy can be lower than 200 ℃.

3. Good corrosion resistance. TC4 powder can work in humid atmosphere and seawater. Its corrosion resistance is much better than that of stainless steel. It has strong resistance to pitting corrosion, acid corrosion and stress corrosion. However, titanium has poor corrosion resistance in the medium with reducing oxygen and chromium salt.

4. TC4 powder can keep its mechanical properties at low and ultra-low temperature. TC4 powder with good low temperature properties and interstitial elements (such as TA7) can maintain a certain degree of plasticity at - 253 ° C. Therefore, TC4 powder is also an important low temperature structural material.

5. Titanium has great chemical activity. Titanium has high chemical activity. It reacts strongly with O, N, h, Co, CO2, water vapor and ammonia in the atmosphere.

6. The thermal conductivity of titanium is small. Thermal conductivity of titanium λ= 24W / (MK) is about 1 / 4 of nickel, 1 / 5 of iron and 1 / 14 of aluminum.

7. The main limitation of titanium and TC4 powders is their poor chemical reactivity with other materials at high temperature. This property forces TC4 powder to be different from traditional refining, melting and casting technology, and even causes mold damage.

8. TC4 powder is expensive. Therefore, they are mainly used in aircraft structure, aircraft and high-tech industries, such as petroleum and chemical industries.
